May 2024

It’s graduation season at IEC and that’s so important for all of us. Of course, the graduates are to be celebrated for their dedication and achievement. They are to be recognized for investing in themselves and committing to learning through the top-notch IEC Apprenticeship Program. It’s not an easy four years.

Contractors – you need to celebrate as well. Whether you have a graduate this year or not, you can rest assured that IEC electrical contracting businesses stand for excellence.

It is our mission to provide premier education, top professional instructors, and our leading-edge curriculum so that we graduate the best of the best. Be proud of your part in advancing the merit shop. I hope to see many of you as part of IEC Operation Graduation. It will be an honor to meet and help launch your graduates, reminding them to keep current within this ever-evolving industry through the multiple education and business courses provided by staying connected with IEC.

While we’re talking about ongoing learning, kudos to the 16 Emerging Leaders (see below) who kicked off their program in April with virtual introductory sessions on IEC, the industry, active listening, and importance of their industry impact project. They also had their first in-person session, hosted at IEC Rocky Mountain, which included speed networking, an Electrical Behind the Scenes tour of Empower Field at Mile High (home of the Denver Broncos), a chapter tour, team and workplace culture sessions, an owner panel, and Fierce Conversation on Achieving Success in the Field presented by David Scott of Encore Electric. This is just one more way IEC helps lead in this industry.

It is truly a busy time for our industry. Read on for additional IEC activities in government affairs, safety, and more through the updates below. Please take note of the registration information for upcoming IEC events: Policy Conference, Safety Summit, and SPARK: The Electrician’s Expo.

Onward, and I look forward to working with you in the quest to becoming the nation’s premier electrical merit shop contractors association. And, yes, there is strength in unity! #WeAreIEC

Let’s work together this June and beyond to make our communities, workplaces, and homes safer for everyone.
