April 2024

As your IEC president, I cannot emphasize enough the significance of hearing Charlie Cook, the esteemed founder of The Cook Political Report, speak at the upcoming IEC Policy Conference. With over three decades of experience in political analysis, Charlie will prepare attendees for the U.S. elections and trends. I believe his expertise will empower us to better understand the political landscape, enabling us to advocate more effectively for IEC. Make sure you register today!

I encourage those who missed the member townhall to watch the recording. During this session, IEC brought updates on legislative and regulatory issues, marketing developments, growth initiatives, and more. I hope that you prioritize our next quarter townhall – more information to come.

I am excited about the changes we’ve made to SPARK: The Electrician’s Expo this year. Senate Passes IEC-Supported Joint Employer Resolution

On April 10, the United States Senate passed a Joint Employer Congressional Review Act resolution of disapproval (H.J. Res 98) with a 50-48 vote. IEC sent a letter in advance of the vote urging senators to support the resolution, which would nullify the recent “indirect” or “potential” control standard for determining a joint employer relationship enacted by the National Labor Relations Board. The measure now heads to President Biden’s desk, which IEC anticipates him to veto.

National Electrical Safety Month
As May approaches, the IEC is preparing to actively engage in National Electrical Safety Month, an annual campaign sponsored by the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI). This annual campaign serves as a reminder of the importance of electrical safety in both residential and commercial environments.
May is Mental Health Month
As we gear up for National Electrical Safety Month, it’s important to acknowledge another significant observance during May: Mental Health Month.  IEC Instructors Seek Excellence

Electrical contractors seeking to build their workforce know where to turn when looking to train a new hire — the IEC Apprenticeship Program. With its proven curriculum and outstanding instructors, it’s a recipe for success.
IEC’s Instructor of the Year Paul Lozoya is featured in the March / April 2024 issue of Insights magazine. Completing the IEC Dallas Apprenticeship Program while working with Masters and Associates led to great positions, including a seven-year stint as an electrical inspector for the City of Dallas. In March of 2023, Paul returned to IEC Dallas as training director and instructor. Read about his stellar work with students in Paul Lozoya: Relate Class Lessons to Life Situations.
