IEC Expresses Opposition to Latest Overtime Proposal
IEC has recently submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Labor opposing their latest attempt to raise the salary level threshold for exempt employee classification. The proposed rule suggests a 70 percent increase from $35,568 to $60,209, with automatic escalations every three years.
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) released its final rule on October 26, 2023, regarding the determination of joint employer status under the National Labor Relations Act. The new rule shifts away from the direct control standard of 2020 and assesses joint employer status regardless of how control is exercised, be it direct or indirect. IEC had previously submitted comments last year opposing this proposal.
